Botpress Pricing Plans From $150 a Month and Real AI Spend Cost

October 13, 2026

Answers from your own pages, human handoff, one line of JavaScript. Plans from $49/mo with AI conversations included.

Botpress pricing has four tiers: Free at $0 with 100 conversations a month, Plus at $150 a month billed annually with 250 conversations and $25 of AI usage, Team at $750 a month billed annually with 1,500 conversations and $150 of AI usage, and a quoted Enterprise plan. Past the plan quota you pay $65 per 100 extra conversations on Plus or $50 on Team, and AI usage beyond the allowance is billed at model cost. A website chatbot handling 500 conversations a month on Plus comes to about $345 a month before extra AI spend.

Botpress changed its price list in 2026, and most third-party pages still quote the old $89 Plus and $495 Team plans. The figures below come from botpress.com/pricing, checked in October 2026, in US dollars. After the plan table you will find how conversations and AI spend are metered, the add-ons that land on real invoices, monthly totals at four volumes, and what a ready-made website chatbot costs for the same work.

Plus and Team include unlimited AI agents, so you are not paying per bot. Plus adds a white label webchat, which removes the Botpress branding from the widget, and Team adds roles, routing and assignment for a support team. Enterprise layers on dedicated support, an uptime SLA, a security review, custom storage and the voice channel. The pricing page says annual billing saves 20%, so expect monthly billing to land near $188 for Plus and $938 for Team.

How much does Botpress cost per month?

Botpress costs $0 on Free, $150 a month on Plus and $750 a month on Team with annual billing, plus extra conversation packs and any AI usage above the plan allowance. For a typical small business website, the realistic monthly bill is $150 to $350 on Plus. Busier sites that need a support team in the inbox start at $750 on Team and grow from there.

The headline price is only the floor because two meters run underneath it. One counts conversations, the other counts the money spent calling the language model. Both move with your traffic, and both can add charges in the middle of a month.

How does Botpress count conversations?

Botpress counts a conversation once a visitor has sent two messages in the billing month. A visitor who opens the widget and leaves after one message does not use your quota, but anyone who asks a question and a follow-up does. On Plus, 250 conversations is roughly eight real chats a day.

When you reach 95% of the quota, Botpress adds a pack of 100 conversations automatically and charges for it: $65 on Plus, $50 on Team. Botpress says this auto-recharge cannot be switched off today, so a traffic spike, a bot stuck in a loop or a run of spam chats turns directly into extra packs. The Free plan is the exception. It stops at 100 conversations instead of buying more, which makes it safe for testing and too small for a live business site.

What is Botpress AI spend?

Botpress AI spend is the cost of the language model calls your agent makes, billed at the model provider's rate without markup. Each plan includes an allowance ($25 on Plus, $150 on Team), and every conversation comes with about $0.10 of AI usage. When you go past it, Botpress buys $10 AI credit grants on your behalf at 95% of the balance.

How fast you burn it depends on choices that are easy to make without thinking about cost: a stronger model, longer answers, a large knowledge base pulled into every reply, or an agent that calls several tools per turn. A support bot on a small model answering short questions stays inside the allowance. A sales agent on a frontier model writing long, researched replies can spend several times the included amount. If your agent can call APIs or act on customer data, budget time for guarding it too, because a tool-calling agent needs protection against prompt injection and unsafe tool use before it talks to the public.

Botpress add-ons and extra costs

Add-onPriceWho needs it
Conversation pack, Plus$65 per 100Any Plus site past 250 chats a month
Conversation pack, Team$50 per 100Any Team workspace past 1,500 chats a month
AI credit grant$10 each, at costAgents on bigger models or with long answers
Storage add-on$40 a monthLarge knowledge bases: 100K table rows, 1 GB vector and 10 GB file storage
EnterpriseQuotedSLA, security review, voice, dedicated support

There is one more cost that never shows on the invoice: building. Botpress is an agent platform with a visual Studio, knowledge bases, tables and code cards. Teams with a developer get a lot from it. Teams without one tend to spend weeks on flows and prompts before the bot answers reliably, and that time is the largest line in the real budget.

Botpress cost at four conversation volumes

Monthly conversationsCheapest Botpress setupMonthly total, annual billing
250Plus$150
500Plus plus 3 packs at $65$345
1,500Team (Plus with 13 packs would be $995)$750
3,000Team plus 15 packs at $50$1,500

These totals leave out AI spend above the plan allowance, which depends on your model and answer length, and the $40 storage add-on. The step from Plus to Team is the one to watch. Somewhere around 1,000 conversations a month, Plus with packs costs more than Team, so a growing site ends up on the $750 plan whether or not it needs unlimited seats.

Is Botpress worth the price?

Botpress is worth the price when you have a developer and need a custom agent: multi-step workflows, calls into your own systems, several channels such as WhatsApp and webchat from one build, or logic that a template chatbot cannot express. In that case $150 to $750 a month is modest next to building the same thing from scratch.

It is poor value when the job is a support and lead capture chatbot on a website. You pay for a platform you will mostly not use, you build what a ready-made tool gives you on day one, and the conversation and AI meters keep the bill moving. That is the gap a flat-priced website chatbot fills.

What InChat costs for the same job

InChat is an AI chatbot for your website that trains on your pages, help articles and PDFs in minutes, answers visitors with the source named and hands hard questions and qualified leads to your team. It is priced by plan, not by model cost: Starter is $24 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly) for 500 AI conversations and 3 team members, Plus is $74 ($149 monthly) for 2,000 conversations and 10 team members, and Pro is $249 ($499 monthly) for unlimited conversations and team members.

Monthly conversationsBotpress, annual billingInChat, yearly billing
250$150$24 (Starter, 500 included)
500$345$24 (Starter)
1,500$750$74 (Plus, 2,000 included)
3,000$1,500$249 (Pro, unlimited)

The honest trade is control. InChat does not give you a canvas, code cards or custom tool calls, so a team that needs an agent to run logic inside its own systems should stay on Botpress. A team that needs accurate answers on the site, lead capture and human handoff this week gets them for a fraction of the cost. The full side by side, including setup and switching steps, is on our Botpress alternative page, and every plan is listed on AI chatbot pricing.

Is Botpress free?

Botpress has a free plan, but it is built for testing. It allows 100 conversations a month with no top-ups, 3 seats and 3 bots, and it keeps the Botpress branding on the webchat widget. A business site with real traffic outgrows it in days, and white label webchat starts on Plus at $150 a month billed annually.

How does Botpress pricing compare with Chatbase?

Chatbase is cheaper to start and simpler to set up. Its Hobby plan is $40 a month ($32 yearly) for 700 message credits, and live human handoff starts on the $150 Standard plan. Botpress costs more at the entry level but gives far more room to build custom agents. Our Chatbase pricing article converts its credits into conversations so you can compare both on the same unit, and the Chatbase alternative page puts all three tools side by side.
