The short answer

Botpress is an AI agent platform priced by conversation. Its current price list has a Free plan with 100 conversations a month, Plus at $150 a month billed annually with 250 conversations and $25 of AI usage, and Team at $750 a month with 1,500 conversations and $150 of AI usage. Past the quota, a pack of 100 conversations is added automatically at $65 on Plus or $50 on Team, and Botpress says that auto-recharge cannot be switched off. InChat is a ready-made website chatbot priced per plan: $24 a month billed yearly for 500 AI conversations and 3 team members, $74 for 2,000 and 10, $249 for unlimited. If you have developers and need an agent that runs custom logic inside your systems, Botpress is the stronger platform. If you need accurate answers on your site, lead capture and human handoff this week, InChat is the cheaper and faster buy.

Both. QuickBooks Online and Xero connect natively on every plan, and NetSuite is available on the Business plan through the SuiteTalk connector. Source: Integrations page.

What Botpress and InChat cost at four conversation volumes

Botpress figures use the annual prices on botpress.com/pricing: Plus $150 a month with 250 conversations, Team $750 a month with 1,500, and conversation packs of 100 at $65 on Plus and $50 on Team. Botpress counts a conversation once a visitor has sent two messages in the billing month. InChat is priced on its yearly plans; on monthly billing InChat plans are $49, $149 and $499.

Monthly volume Botpress InChat (yearly billing) What changes
250 conversations, white label chat Plus, $150 a month Starter $24 for 500 AI conversations and 3 team members $126 a month less, with twice the conversation room
500 conversations Plus $150, plus 3 packs at $65 = $345 a month Starter $24 for 500 AI conversations $321 a month less, and no pack is added at 95% of quota
1,500 conversations, 6 people in the inbox Team, $750 a month (Plus with 13 packs would be $995) Plus $74 for 2,000 AI conversations and 10 team members $676 a month less, about $8,100 a year
3,000 conversations Team $750, plus at least 15 packs at $50 = $1,500 a month Pro $249 for unlimited AI conversations and team members About $1,250 a month less, and a busy month costs the same

Botpress prices from botpress.com/pricing, checked in October 2026: Free $0 with 100 conversations, 3 seats and no top-ups; Plus $150 a month billed annually with 250 conversations, 3 seats, $25 of AI usage, white label webchat and WhatsApp; Team $750 a month billed annually with 1,500 conversations, unlimited seats, $150 of AI usage, roles, routing and assignment; Enterprise and Managed are quoted. The page says annual billing saves 20%, so expect monthly billing to cost more. Each conversation includes $0.10 of AI usage; beyond the plan allowance Botpress buys $10 AI credit grants on your behalf at cost. A storage add-on is $40 a month. Totals above leave out extra AI spend, which depends on the model and the length of your answers.

Why teams switch

What you get without building an agent

01

Trained on your site, not assembled from nodes

InChat crawls your website, help center and uploaded PDFs, answers from them and names the source. There is no canvas, no instructions per node and no knowledge base wiring to maintain.

02

A fixed number, not a quota with auto-recharge

Botpress adds a 100-conversation pack at 95% of quota and a $10 AI credit at 95% of AI spend, and neither can be turned off today. InChat plans are 500, 2,000 or unlimited AI conversations at a set monthly price.

03

Model costs are our problem

On Botpress, AI usage is the cost of calling the language model, and longer answers or a stronger model use the allowance faster. InChat counts conversations only, whatever it takes to answer them.

04

Human handoff and a shared inbox on every plan

When a question needs a person, the agent collects contact details and routes the chat to the right teammate with the transcript. Starter includes 3 team members, where Botpress keeps routing and assignment for the $750 Team plan.

05

Lead capture that sales can use

The agent asks your qualifying questions, records the answers and offers your calendar link when the visitor fits. Qualified leads arrive in the inbox and by email, with the full conversation.

06

Weekly re-training

InChat re-crawls your site every week, so a new price, policy or product page reaches the agent without anyone re-syncing a knowledge base.

How it works

Replace a Botpress webchat bot in an afternoon

  1. 1

    Paste your website URL

InChat crawls your public pages. Add your help center and upload any PDFs or documents your Botpress knowledge base used.

  2. 2

    Replay real conversations

Take 20 questions from your Botpress conversation history and ask them. Fix a weak answer by editing the source page or adding a short instruction.

  3. 3

    Set handoff and lead rules

Choose which topics go to a person, add team members and their hours, and write the two or three questions that qualify a lead.

  4. 4

    Swap the embed code

Remove the Botpress webchat script and add the InChat script tag. If a Botpress agent runs custom workflows elsewhere, such as WhatsApp, it can stay while the website moves.

What is the best alternative to Botpress?

The best alternative to Botpress depends on what you were building. For a customer-facing chatbot on your website that answers from your own content and hands off to people, InChat is the simpler choice: it trains on your site in minutes and costs $24 a month billed yearly for 500 AI conversations. For custom multi-step agents built by developers, Voiceflow and Rasa are the closer like-for-like platforms.

The teams that move to InChat usually have 1 to 20 people, a SaaS product, store or service business, and one job for the bot: answer visitors accurately and pass leads and hard cases to a human. They were not using Botpress tables, custom code cards or the developer kit. They were paying a platform price for a webchat widget.

If your comparison list also includes other AI chatbot builders, our Chatbase alternative page works through message credits and the SiteGPT alternative page covers message caps by model.

Is Botpress free?

Botpress has a Free plan at $0 with 100 conversations a month, 3 seats and 3 AI agents. It keeps Botpress branding on the webchat, has community support only, and cannot buy top-ups, so the bot stops being useful for a live site once the 100 conversations are used. The first paid plan is Plus at $150 a month billed annually.

That gap is the reason many small teams start looking around. A site with 400 conversations a month cannot stay on Free, and on Plus it pays $150 plus two packs at $65, or $280 a month. The free plan is a fair way to prototype an agent. It is not a way to run support for a business with real traffic.

How much does Botpress cost?

Botpress costs $150 a month billed annually on the Plus plan, which includes 250 conversations and $25 of AI usage, and $750 a month on the Team plan, which includes 1,500 conversations and $150 of AI usage. Extra conversations are sold in packs of 100 for $65 on Plus and $50 on Team. Enterprise is quoted.

Two details shape the real bill. First, a conversation is counted as soon as a visitor sends two messages in the month, and a chat that crosses a month boundary counts in both months. Second, the packs and the AI credit grants are bought automatically at 95% of your limit. Botpress sends warnings at 75% and 100%, but its pricing page says the auto-recharge cannot be paused, because pausing conversations would mean pausing the product.

Plus$150 a month, annual250$65 per 1003
Team$750 a month, annual1,500$50 per 100Unlimited

On Plus, that works out to 60 cents per included conversation and 65 cents for each one after. On InChat Starter the same conversation costs under 5 cents ($24 for 500), and every plan is listed on the AI chatbot pricing page.

Is Botpress hard to use?

Botpress is easy to start and harder to finish. A basic bot that answers from a knowledge base takes an hour, but reviewers and comparison sites regularly describe a learning curve once you need handoff, lead capture, conditions or integrations, because those are built as flows, cards and sometimes code in the Studio. Teams without a developer tend to stall at that point.

That is a fair trade for what Botpress is. It is a platform for building agents, so it gives you the parts and expects you to assemble them. A product like InChat makes the opposite trade: fewer things you can build, and the common ones (answers from your content, handoff to a person, qualifying a lead, a shared inbox) already working when you paste your URL.

Who are Botpress competitors?

Botpress competes with agent-building platforms such as Voiceflow and Rasa, with AI chatbot builders such as Chatbase and SiteGPT, with support suites that include an AI agent such as Intercom and Tidio, and with ready-made website chatbots such as InChat. They differ most in who does the building and in what the meter counts.

ToolEntry paid priceWhat is meteredBest for
Botpress$150 a month, annualConversations (250), then $65 per 100, plus AI spendDevelopers building custom agents with logic and integrations

Each of these has its own cost breakdown on our Tidio alternative, cheaper alternative to Intercom and Drift alternative pages.

When is Botpress the better choice?

Botpress is the better choice when the bot has to do things, not only answer. If you need an agent that looks up an order in your database, runs custom code, writes to tables, calls several APIs in sequence or works across WhatsApp and voice with its own logic, Botpress gives you a studio, a developer kit and a choice of language models that InChat does not.

It also wins on experimentation. The Free plan lets a developer build and test an agent for nothing, Plus includes WhatsApp, and unlimited AI agents on paid plans suit an agency running many different bots. InChat connects to other systems through webhooks and an API on the Plus plan, but it is not a workflow engine. If your project is an agent, build it in Botpress. If your project is website support and leads, you probably do not need to build anything.

Most teams did not want to become bot builders

The people who search for a Botpress alternative are often a founder, a support lead or a marketer who signed up to put a helpful chatbot on the site. A few weeks in they are debugging node transitions, watching an AI spend meter and asking a developer for help with something that was meant to be no-code. They do not need an agent framework. They need the forty questions customers keep asking answered correctly, and a person brought in for the rest.

Who it is for

Teams that switch from Botpress to InChat

SaaS companies

Plan limits, integrations, security and setup questions repeat every day. Answers come from your docs and pricing page, and qualified buyers get a calendar link while bug reports reach support with the transcript.

Online stores

Shipping times, returns, sizing and product details make up most chats. The agent answers from your policies and product pages, and order problems go to a person with the order number already collected.

Agencies and service firms

Prospects ask about price ranges, timelines and fit at all hours. The agent answers from your service pages, asks your qualifying questions and passes the lead to the right partner.
