Olark Pricing and Olark Cost per Agent With the $400 AI Plan

October 06, 2026

Answers from your own pages, human handoff, one line of JavaScript. Plans from $49/mo with AI conversations included.

Olark pricing has two lines: human-only live chat costs $29 per agent a month, and the Standard AI Website Agent costs $400 a month billed annually, which is $4,800 a year. The AI plan includes unlimited conversations and one human agent seat, and each additional agent is $29 a month. Larger accounts get a custom quote. There is a 14-day free trial of live chat without a credit card, and no permanent free plan on the current pricing page.

Below are the plans, what each includes, the older prices that reviews still quote, and monthly totals for four team sizes. Prices come from olark.com/pricing, checked in October 2026.

Olark's own examples put two agents on the AI plan at $429 a month and three at $458. The AI is charged once no matter how many seats you add, and Olark states there are no token limits and no overage fees on conversations.

How much does Olark cost per month?

Olark costs $29 a month for one agent on human-only live chat, $58 for two and $145 for five. With the AI Website Agent the floor is $400 a month, billed as $4,800 for the year, and a five-person team pays $516 a month ($400 plus four extra seats at $29). There is no charge per conversation on either line.

The jump is the thing to plan for. Going from human chat to AI answers on Olark is not a $20 or $50 add-on. It moves a two-person team from $58 a month to $429 a month and from month-to-month to a yearly commitment.

Olark live chat pricing for human-only teams

Human-only Olark is the product thousands of small sites installed years ago: a chatbox, an agent console, transcripts, shortcuts, targeted chat rules and reports, at $29 per agent a month. Olark describes it as the same live chat it has sold since 2009, and you can add the AI agent later without reinstalling anything.

At $29 a seat it sits between LiveChat's per-agent pricing ($25 to $89 on monthly billing) and the workspace plans of smaller tools. It is good value for one or two people who are at their desks all day. It does nothing for the visitor who arrives at 9pm, which is why the AI line exists.

How much does the Olark AI agent cost?

The Olark AI agent costs $400 a month billed annually, so $4,800 for the year, with one human agent seat included and unlimited AI conversations. Each additional human agent is $29 a month. Olark says the agent trains on your website in about a minute, keeps its knowledge updated, captures and qualifies leads, and hands off to a person in the same thread.

Whether that is cheap or expensive depends on volume. Divide the price by the conversations the AI has in a month:

AI conversations a monthOlark AI Website Agent, cost per conversationInChat plan that covers it, cost per conversation
300$400 / 300 = about $1.33Starter $24 yearly, about $0.08
1,500$400 / 1,500 = about $0.27Plus $74 yearly, about $0.05
6,000$400 / 6,000 = about $0.07Pro $249 yearly, about $0.04
20,000$400 / 20,000 = $0.02Pro $249 yearly, about $0.01

At high volume a flat unlimited plan from either vendor costs pennies per conversation. At a few hundred conversations, which is where most small businesses sit, a $400 floor is steep.

Is Olark free?

No. Olark offers a 14-day free trial of live chat with no credit card and a free preview of the AI agent on your own website, but the current pricing page has no permanent free plan. After the trial you pay $29 per agent a month for live chat or $400 a month billed annually for the AI Website Agent.

You will find reviews that describe a free Olark tier capped at 20 chats a month. It does not appear on the pricing page today. If a free tier matters to you, ask Olark directly before you rely on it.

Olark PowerUps and discounts that older reviews still quote

Most third-party Olark pricing pages were written against an earlier price list. They mention $23 per agent a month on yearly billing, $19 on a two-year term, an Olark Pro tier with CoPilot chatbots, and paid PowerUps such as live chat translation ($29 a month), a non-branded chatbox ($59), visitor insights ($59 to $99) and cobrowsing ($99).

None of those figures are on olark.com/pricing as of October 2026. The page shows the $29 seat, the $400 AI plan and custom packages. Term discounts and add-ons may still be available through sales or on existing accounts, so if one of them decides the purchase for you, get it in writing on your quote instead of budgeting from a review.

What Olark costs for four real teams

2 people, AI answers first, 300 chats$400 + $29 = $429 a month, on a yearly contractStarter $49, or $24 billed yearly, 500 AI conversations, 3 team members
5 people, AI answers first, 1,500 chats$400 + 4 x $29 = $516 a monthPlus $149, or $74 billed yearly, 2,000 AI conversations, 10 team members
15 people, AI answers first, 6,000 chats$400 + 14 x $29 = $806 a monthPro $499, or $249 billed yearly, unlimited conversations and team members

For one person who only wants human chat and prefers to pay month to month, Olark at $29 is cheaper than InChat Starter at $49. In every setup where an AI agent answers first, the per-plan pricing comes out lower, by $380 to $560 a month on yearly billing.

Is Olark worth it?

Olark is worth it in two situations. The first is a small human chat team that wants a dependable chatbox at $29 a seat and has no plans for AI. The second is a high-traffic site where an AI agent will hold thousands of conversations a month, because unlimited volume at $400 with account management is a fair price at that scale.

It is harder to justify in the middle: a business with 1 to 10 people and a few hundred chats a month that wants to try AI answers. That buyer is asked to commit $4,800 before knowing how well the agent performs on their content. Chat is also only the first step for most of these teams. A lead captured at night still needs a callback, and some companies now hand that part to AI calling that qualifies leads and books the meeting, so the follow-up budget matters as much as the chat line.

Where Olark is the better choice

Olark has run live chat since 2009 and it shows in the unglamorous parts of buying software. Its team helps with security reviews, VPATs and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility documentation, accepts purchase orders and vendor management systems, and assigns an account manager. For a university, a public agency or a large company with a procurement process, that support can outweigh the price difference.

The unlimited conversation promise is also real. If a product launch or a seasonal peak sends chat volume up tenfold, the Olark bill does not move. InChat's Pro plan makes the same promise at $249 a month billed yearly, but Starter and Plus have monthly conversation allowances you would need to watch.

Olark pricing vs a flat-price AI chatbot

InChat trains an AI agent on your website, docs and FAQ, answers visitors around the clock and hands the chat to your team with the full transcript when a person is needed. The AI is in every plan: Starter is $49 a month ($24 billed yearly) for 3 team members and 500 AI conversations, Plus is $149 ($74 yearly) for 10 team members and 2,000, and Pro is $499 ($249 yearly) for unlimited people and conversations. You can start on monthly billing and see every plan on our AI chatbot pricing page.

If the $400 AI plan is what sent you looking, the Olark alternative page compares the two side by side and shows how to move the chatbox in an afternoon. Teams also weighing other tools can run the same numbers in our Tidio pricing and Crisp pricing breakdowns.
