The short answer
LiveAgent is a per-agent help desk: $15, $29, $49 or $69 per agent a month billed yearly ($19, $35, $59 or $85 monthly), with ticketing, live chat and, from Medium up, a call center. Its AI chatbot runs on FlowHunt, and LiveAgent's own documentation says you need an active FlowHunt subscription and pay in credits on top of the seats. InChat is priced per team with the AI agent inside the plan: $24 a month billed yearly for 500 AI conversations and 3 team members, $74 for 2,000 and 10, $249 for unlimited. If phone support and a full ticketing desk are the center of your work, LiveAgent is the better tool; if most of your volume is website chat and you want AI answers on one bill, InChat is the simpler buy.

What LiveAgent and InChat cost in four common setups
LiveAgent figures use the yearly per-agent prices on liveagent.com/pricing: Small $15, Medium $29, Large $49. AI usage is billed by FlowHunt in credits on top; LiveAgent's AI credits page estimates about 1 cent per AI query and 4 queries per chat, so roughly 4 credits per 100 chats. InChat is priced on its yearly plans; on monthly billing InChat plans are $49, $149 and $499.
| Setup | LiveAgent | InChat (yearly billing) | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 people, chat and email, no AI | Small, 2 x $15 = $30 a month | Starter $24, 3 team members, 500 AI conversations included | $6 a month less, and the AI answers when nobody is online |
| 3 people plus AI, about 750 chats a month | Small 3 x $15 = $45, plus a FlowHunt plan for about 30 credits a month | Plus $74 for 2,000 AI conversations and 10 team members | One bill, no credit balance to watch, room to grow to 2,000 chats |
| 8 people plus AI, about 2,000 chats a month | Medium 8 x $29 = $232, plus FlowHunt for about 80 credits a month | Plus $74 for 2,000 AI conversations and 10 team members | About $158 a month less before the FlowHunt bill is counted |
| 15 people with social channels and AI, 5,000 chats a month | Large 15 x $49 = $735, plus FlowHunt for about 200 credits a month | Pro $249 for unlimited AI conversations and unlimited team members | About $486 a month less before FlowHunt, with no seat count to manage |
LiveAgent prices from liveagent.com/pricing, checked in October 2026: Small $15 ($19 monthly), Medium $29 ($35), Large $49 ($59), Enterprise $69 ($85) per agent a month, 30-day trial without a card. Social channels on Small and Medium are $39 a month each, branding removal $19. The credit estimate comes from liveagent.com/features/ai-credits. FlowHunt's own pricing page listed Starter with 50 credits and Pro with 120 credits a month, shown in euros (about 50 and 120 euros), while LiveAgent's page still mentions a $10 starter plan, so confirm the current FlowHunt price before you budget.

A billing question at 9pm, answered from your help center and passed to the right person
The agent answers from your help articles and pricing page, cites the source, then hands the account-specific part to a person with the transcript attached. No ticket sat in a queue overnight, and the conversation was part of the plan.
- Answers come from the help articles you already maintain
- Account-specific requests reach a person with context attached
- AI conversations are counted in the plan, not billed as credits
Questions about your account?

Why teams switch
What changes when the AI is part of the plan
Answers from pages you already wrote
InChat reads your website, help center and uploaded PDFs, answers from them and links the source. There are no chatbot rules to write for the questions your FAQ already covers.
One subscription, not two
LiveAgent's AI features need a FlowHunt subscription and credits next to your seats. InChat counts AI conversations in the plan: 500 on Starter, 2,000 on Plus, unlimited on Pro.
Team pricing, not agent seats
Starter includes 3 team members, Plus 10 and Pro unlimited. Adding a part-time agent for the holiday rush does not add another $15 to $49 a month.
Human handoff with routing
When a question needs a person, the agent collects contact details and routes the chat to the right teammate with the full transcript, live during your hours or by email after.
Chat, email and social in one inbox on Plus
Website chat, email, WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram land in one shared inbox. On LiveAgent, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are $39 add-ons each until the Large plan.
Weekly re-training
InChat re-crawls your site every week, so a changed price or policy reaches the agent without a manual refresh or a new crawl charge.
How it works
Move from LiveAgent to InChat in an afternoon
-
1
Paste your website URL
InChat crawls your public pages. Upload your LiveAgent knowledge base export or canned messages as a PDF if you want them in the agent's sources.
-
2
Replay your top questions
Take the 20 chat questions your agents answer most and ask them. Fix a weak answer by editing the source page or adding a short instruction.
-
3
Set handoff rules
Billing changes, complaints and anything urgent go to a person. Add team members, their hours and which topics each one owns.
-
4
Swap the chat button
Remove the LiveAgent chat button code and add the InChat script tag. If you keep LiveAgent for email tickets and calls, both can run side by side.
What is the best alternative to LiveAgent?
The best alternative to LiveAgent depends on what you use it for. If website chat is your main channel and you want an AI agent answering first, InChat is the simpler fit: the AI is trained on your site and included in every plan from $24 a month billed yearly. If you rely on LiveAgent's call center and ticketing, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Zoho Desk are the closer like-for-like help desks.
The teams that switch to InChat usually have 2 to 15 people, a store, SaaS product or service business, and most of their customer contact through the website. They do not need IVR or call recording. They do need answers at night and on weekends, and they want to stop paying per agent for people who only cover chat a few hours a week.
If you are comparing seat-based chat tools at the same time, our LiveChat alternative page prices per-agent seats plus a separate AI agent, and the Zendesk chat alternative page covers Suite seats with per-resolution AI fees.
Who are LiveAgent's competitors?
LiveAgent's main competitors are full help desks such as Zendesk, Freshdesk, Zoho Desk and Help Scout, live chat tools such as LiveChat, Tidio and Crisp, and AI-first website chatbots such as InChat. The real difference is billing: per agent seat, per AI resolution, per AI credit, or one plan for the team.
| Tool | Entry price | How AI is billed | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| LiveAgent | $15 per agent a month, yearly | FlowHunt subscription and credits on top of seats | Teams that want tickets, chat and a call center in one help desk |
| Zendesk | $55 per agent a month for chat (Suite Team, yearly) | 5 to 10 automated resolutions per agent, then $1.50 to $2.00 each | Large support teams with voice and SLAs |
| Help Scout | $25 per user a month, yearly | $0.75 per AI Answers resolution | Email-first support with a knowledge base |
| LiveChat | $19 per agent a month, yearly | Separate AI agent subscription per user | Larger human chat teams |
| Tidio | $24.17 a month, yearly | Lyro add-on from $32.50 for 50 AI conversations | Small Shopify stores |
| InChat | $24 a month yearly for 3 team members | Included, 500 to unlimited AI conversations | Teams whose support and leads come through website chat |
Each of these has its own cost breakdown on our Help Scout alternative, Tidio alternative and cheaper alternative to Intercom pages.
How much does LiveAgent cost?
LiveAgent costs $15, $29, $49 or $69 per agent a month on yearly billing, or $19, $35, $59 and $85 on monthly billing, for the Small, Medium, Large and Enterprise plans. AI features are billed separately through a FlowHunt subscription and credits, and social channels are $39 a month each below the Large plan.
The jump between plans matters more than the entry price. The call center, IVR, reports, SLAs and SSO start on Medium. Facebook, Instagram, X, Viber, Telegram and WhatsApp are included only from Large. Chat buttons and incoming email accounts are capped per plan (2 and 3 on Small, 5 and 10 on Medium), so one more brand or inbox can move the whole team up a tier. The full worked numbers are in our LiveAgent pricing breakdown.
Does LiveAgent have an AI chatbot?
Yes. LiveAgent lists an AI chatbot, AI answer assistant and AI human handover on its plans, with full setup from the Medium plan. The AI runs on FlowHunt, a separate platform from the same company, and LiveAgent's documentation says an active FlowHunt subscription is required to use any of its AI features.
Usage is counted in FlowHunt credits. LiveAgent's own estimate is about half a cent to one cent per customer question and about four questions per chat, so a site with 750 chats a month uses roughly 30 credits. That is cheap per chat, but it is a second account, a second invoice and a balance to watch. InChat includes the AI conversations in the plan, so the monthly number does not move with traffic until you change plans.
Is LiveAgent good for small business?
LiveAgent is a good fit for a small business that needs tickets, live chat and phone support in one tool, and the $15 Small plan is one of the cheaper help desk seats. It is a weaker fit when the business mainly wants an AI agent on the website, because the AI is a separate FlowHunt subscription and the call center starts only on the $29 Medium plan.
For a 2 to 5 person team, the question is how many people really work the inbox. Five agents on Medium are $145 a month before AI usage. InChat Plus at $74 a month billed yearly covers 10 team members and 2,000 AI conversations, with email and social channels in the same inbox.
Most of the questions are the same twenty, and they arrive through the chat button
Teams that look for a LiveAgent alternative are rarely unhappy with tickets. They notice that website chat has become the busiest channel, that the same pricing, shipping and account questions take up the day, and that turning on the AI chatbot means a second subscription and a credit balance someone has to watch. They want the AI to take those twenty questions and the team to take the rest, on one predictable bill.
Who it is for
Teams that replace LiveAgent with InChat
Online stores
Order status, shipping times, returns and sizing make up most chats. The agent answers from your policies and product pages, and order problems go to a person with the order number already collected.
SaaS and subscription products
Plan limits, billing changes, integrations and setup questions repeat every day. Answers come from your docs and pricing page, and bug reports reach your team with the transcript.
Agencies and service firms
Prospects ask about price ranges, timelines and fit. The agent answers from your service pages and passes qualified leads to the right partner with their contact details.
