Freshchat Pricing, Plans, Freddy AI Sessions and Real Cost
September 29, 2026
Freshchat pricing starts at $19 per agent a month for Growth, $49 for Pro and $79 for Enterprise on yearly billing, or about $23, $59 and $95 per agent billed monthly. There is also a free plan for small teams. The AI agent, Freddy AI Agent, is not unlimited on any plan: you get 500 sessions once, as a trial allowance, and after that every 100 sessions cost $49, roughly $0.49 each.
So a Freshchat bill has two moving parts: how many people log in, and how many visitors the AI talks to. Below are the plans, how Freddy sessions are counted, the add-ons most teams end up buying, and monthly totals for four real setups. Figures come from freshworks.com's Freshchat pricing page and Freshworks' Freddy AI Agent session FAQ, checked in September 2026, in US dollars.
Freshchat pricing plans compared
| Plan | Yearly billing (per agent, per month) | Monthly billing (per agent) | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Chat widget, shared inbox, email integration, roles and permissions, for up to 10 agents |
| Growth | $19 | about $23 | WhatsApp, Messenger and other social channels, text messaging, reports and dashboards, Freddy AI Agent sessions available |
| Pro | $49 | about $59 | Multilingual conversations, custom dashboards, intelligent routing, multiple SLA policies, agent availability dashboard |
| Enterprise | $79 | about $95 | Skill-based routing, audit logs, JWT authentication, allowed domains and IP whitelisting |
Every paid plan is priced per agent, so a team of eight on Pro pays eight times the list price. Two add-ons sit on top of the seats:
- Freddy AI Agent sessions: the first 500 sessions are free once, then $49 per pack of 100. Unused sessions do not carry over to the next billing cycle.
- Freddy AI Copilot: $29 per agent a month billed yearly, on Pro and Enterprise only. This is the assistant that drafts and summarizes replies for your human agents.
How much does Freshchat cost per month?
A realistic Freshchat bill for a business that uses the AI agent lands between $200 and $1,800 a month. A three person team on Growth pays $57 to $69 for seats, and the AI sessions usually cost more than the seats once the one-time 500 are gone. Human-only chat on the free or Growth plan stays cheap; AI answers are what move the number.
The spread comes from three choices: the plan tier your routing and reporting needs push you into, the number of agents, and how many visitors the AI talks to each month. The next sections show how each one changes the total.
How are Freddy AI Agent sessions counted?
A Freddy AI Agent session is every interaction between one customer and the AI agent or chatbot within a 24-hour window. A visitor who asks six questions in one afternoon is one session; the same visitor coming back the next day is a second one. Sessions are counted whether or not the AI actually solved the question.
That last point matters for budgeting. A per-resolution model like Intercom Fin, which we priced in our Intercom Fin pricing breakdown, only charges when the AI closes the conversation. Freddy charges for the attempt. If a third of your chats end with "let me get a person", you still pay for all of them.
| AI sessions per month | Packs of 100 needed | Freddy cost per month |
|---|---|---|
| 200 | 2 | $98 |
| 500 | 5 | $245 |
| 1,000 | 10 | $490 |
| 2,000 | 20 | $980 |
These are costs after the one-time allowance is used. A site with 300 AI sessions a month burns through the free 500 in about seven weeks, so the second invoice is the first honest one.
Is Freshchat free?
Yes, Freshchat has a free plan for up to 10 agents with the chat widget, a shared inbox and email integration. It does not include social messaging channels, dashboards or routing, and it is live chat answered by people. To have AI answer visitors you need a paid plan plus Freddy AI Agent sessions, which are free only for the first 500.
What four real setups cost on Freshchat
Below are four setups we see often, priced with Freshchat's public list prices after the one-time 500 sessions are used. InChat prices are shown for the same job, because a website chatbot that trains on your content with human handoff is what most of these teams are buying.
| Setup | Freshchat per month | InChat per month |
|---|---|---|
| 2 agents, human-only live chat, no AI | $0 on Free, or $46 on Growth billed monthly | $49 on Starter (500 AI conversations included) |
| 3 agents, about 300 AI sessions, monthly billing | Growth 3 x $23 = $69, plus 3 packs $147, so $216 | Starter $49 with 500 AI conversations and 3 team members |
| 5 agents, routing and SLAs, about 800 AI sessions, monthly billing | Pro 5 x $59 = $295, plus 8 packs $392, so $687 | Plus $149 with 2,000 AI conversations and 10 team members |
| 10 agents, reply suggestions for agents, about 2,000 AI sessions, yearly billing | Pro 10 x $49 = $490, Copilot 10 x $29 = $290, 20 packs $980, so $1,760 | Pro $249 a month billed yearly, unlimited AI conversations and seats, AI copilot included |
Freshchat is honestly cheaper in the first row. If nobody on your team wants AI answering visitors, its free plan is hard to beat. From the second row on, the session packs outgrow the seats, which is the pattern behind most of the "Freshchat got expensive" threads on review sites.
What is the difference between Freshchat and Freshdesk pricing?
Freshchat is priced for messaging (website chat, WhatsApp, social) and Freshdesk for email ticketing, each per agent. Freshworks also sells them together as a customer service suite. Freddy AI Agent sessions use the same $49 per 100 pack model across these products, so combining them does not make AI answers cheaper; it adds a ticketing seat price on top.
How to estimate your own Freshchat bill
Take three numbers from your current chat tool or analytics: the number of people who answer chats, the chats started per month, and the share you want AI to handle. Then:
- Pick the tier your routing needs force. Intelligent routing and multiple SLAs mean Pro, skill-based routing means Enterprise.
- Multiply the per-agent price by your agent count.
- Take monthly chats times the AI share, round up to the next hundred and multiply by $0.49.
- Add Copilot at $29 per agent if your people want drafted replies.
For a store with 1,200 chats a month, 70% handled by AI and four agents on Pro billed yearly, that is $196 for seats plus 9 packs at $49 ($441), so $637 a month before Copilot. Training new hires on that setup is its own line item, and teams that add seats often keep a small onboarding course for new support agents so the tier they paid for actually gets used.
Is Freshchat worth it for a small business?
Freshchat is worth it for a small business that wants human live chat plus WhatsApp and social channels in one inbox, and does not plan heavy AI use. It gets expensive once the AI agent does the answering, because every 100 AI sessions cost $49 and each agent seat is paid separately. A team whose goal is AI answers first usually pays less with a flat plan.
That is the gap InChat is built for. It trains on your website, help docs and PDFs, answers visitors around the clock and hands the conversation to a person in a shared inbox when it should. Plans are $49 a month for 500 AI conversations and 3 team members, $149 for 2,000 conversations and 10 team members, and $499 for unlimited, with no per-seat or per-session fees on top. If you are comparing per-agent tools more broadly, our LiveChat alternative and cheaper alternative to Intercom pages run the same math, and our Tidio pricing breakdown covers the other popular SMB option.
